SPLASHING THE ASH

- BY GARRY OWEN

ASH TREE MEADOW (2.40) can headline a terrific day at Perth for Meath ace Gordon Elliott.

The six-year-old opened his account over fences by slamming Timberman over two miles here this month.

The gelding wasn’t stopping at the business end so should follow up in a warm contest.

The Longwood trainer can then bag the Horizon Parking Hurdle with COPPERWELL (3.10). The seven-year-old improved again when bolting up from Maifalki over course and distance 12 days ago.

The gelding rates a surefire improver in handicaps so should capitalise on a fair mark.

Elliott can make it three with GETAWAY GOLDIE (3.40) in the AEJ Handicap Chase. The mare improved for the step up to three miles when routing Pat Coyne at Downpatrick.

The six-year-old has a bright future over fences so ought to claim this stronger contest.

SARSEN (1.40) seems rock solid for thriving Alan King in the opening maiden hurdle.

The grey looked useful when chasing home Halligator on his timber debut at Uttoxeter four weeks ago and can deliver over an extra four furlongs.

GLEN AVA (2.10) stands to extend Iain Jardine’s winning run in the novices’ handicap hurdle. The mare was better than ever when denying Petite Rhapsody over track and trip at the start of this month.

The six-year-old is nicely unexposed for her new yard so should defy her foe yet again.

BIG DIFFERENCE (4.10) can make a winning start for Tim Reed in the three-miler after a good second to Eclair On Line at Hereford on his last run for Ben Pauling in April.

The gelding remains fairly treated so stands to deny a decent field for his new yard.

IRON HEART (4.40) should show his mettle for David Pipe in the conditionals’ hurdle.

The five-year-old was a super second to Appreciate at Worcester last week and lurks on an attractive mark going into a slightly weaker event.

KNIGHT OF HONOUR (4.0) looks deadly for team Gosden on the flat at Haydock.

The colt relished tackling almost 1m 2f when hammering

Broadspear at Goodwood this month and is open to plenty of progress.
