POULTER: I WON’T LIVIT UP AT AUGUSTA AGAIN

-

LIV Golf star Ian Poulter has clarified he won’t be playing in this year’s Masters – despite visiting Augusta and playing a round at the invitation of a member.

The 48-year-old last played the tournament in 2021 – his 16th appearance after three top-10 finishes.

And the Englishman wrote on social media: “For clarity I will not be playing the Masters this year. I was invited to play by a member and it was in incredible condition. I last played the tournament in 2021 and that will be my last competitive Masters.

The Masters is less than two weeks away and just 13 players from the LIV circuit are set to take part.

At present, there will be fewer players set to compete for the Green Jacket than last year due to LIV’s inability to offer world ranking points. CURLING: Scotland continued the defence of their world title with a 8-2 win over New Zealand in Switzerland.

It’s a fourth win in five round-robin games and they face Germany today. SWIMMING: Lucy Hope wants to give herself a shot at a Paris 2024 medal by powering to the podium when the British Olympic trials begin today.

The world and European medallist is among 12 Scots heading into the six-day London meet with genuine hopes of making it to the Games.

And Hope, 27, said: “Getting to the Olympics again would be massive because you’d know there’s a real opportunity to get on that podium.” ICE HOCKEY: Matt Barry’s overtime winner reignited Glasgow Clan’s play-off hopes as they came from behind to clinch a 3-2 win at Nottingham Panthers. DARTS: Luke Humphries thrashed Michael van Gerwen 8-1 to win the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich last night.
