Scotland skipper’s ‘climate summit’ Andy Robertson plays it for laughs in video for World Earth Month
SCOTLAND captain Andy Robertson has taken part in a hilarious “team meeting” with his fellow Liverpool FC stars to celebrate World Earth Month.
In a video on the club’s website and available on YouTube, the Liverpool defender is seen being left in charge of five of his teammates, including Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez.
They, along with Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Caoimhin Kelleher, are asked to come up with ideas on what their club can do for the planet.
Despite claiming not to be worried about the meeting, Robbo becomes frustrated when his teammates fall at the first hurdle, explaining what World Earth Month is.
Before long Konate presents an idea that the club teams up with the company SC Johnson to make its first Mr Muscle bottle from plastic waste from Anfield.
Robbo remains unimpressed with midfielder Szoboszlai’s suggestion to send 22 fans to a big castle in Scotland, three of whom are not allowed to recycle. The rest of the fans have to guess who is making all of the mess.
“So like Traitors?” Robbo asks.
“No, ‘Wasters’,” replies the
Hungarian. Nunez draws a picture of a horse before giving an emotional speech in his native Spanish about saving the planet. Robbo tells him, “Yes, Darwin. I’ve not got a clue what you just said but I love it.” The video coincides with the publication of The Red Way 2022-23 season report, which celebrates the club’s sustainability achievements across three areas and highlights its journey to promoting positive behavioural change and reducing its impact on the environment.
Finally, the players land on the James Bond-themed campaign, Licensed to Recycle with Salah parodying 007.
Robbo said: “The lads make me laugh. “So do the media team. “It’s always, Robbo, what ideas have you got?
“Robbo, will you be the funnyman?”
