Lorraine Kelly was over the moon as she appeared on her show for the first time after it was announced she is set to become a grandmother for the first time.

The TV presenter’s 29-year-old daughter Rosie revealed last week that she and her boyfriend Steve are expecting their first child together.

In a sweet post, Rosie cradled her bump and shared a scan picture at 12 weeks, saying the baby was the size of a fig.

Alongside the snap, Rosie penned: “We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one.”

Lorraine commented on the post at the time, writing: “THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER.”

The 64-year-old returned to her self-titled show on Monday after her Easter break, and in the

Good Morning Britain handover, host Susanna Reid said: “Lorraine is back, morning, firstly... congratulations because Lorraine, I know everyone knows already but just tell us, how does it feel?”

Lorraine said: “I’m going to be a granny! How exciting is that? My married name is Smith, so I’m Granny Smith!

“We’re all very excited, it’s huge and wonderful and yeah... it’s just cheered everybody up, which is just great! Thank you to everybody who has sent me messages, it was really kind of you... it means a lot.”

Susanna added: “Everyone’s thrilled to bits, I’m so pleased for you.”

Later on, during her own show, Lorraine was surprised with a big celebration and mug to which she jokingly asked if they were going to change the name of the show to Granny Lorraine.
