BRUTE IS JAIL GYM BUNNY
EVIL killer Nathan Matthews is getting fit in prison, enjoying workouts in the gym and playing carpet bowls with fellow lags.
Matthews – serving life for the depraved killing of his step-sister Becky Watts – has been pumping iron twice a week at HMP Long Lartin, according to a source.
Matthews, 28, is serving a minimum of 33 years in the Worcestershire nick for the murder of the teenager. He was helped by lover Shauna Hoare, 21, who is serving 17 years for manslaughter.
The evil pair – who were sexually attracted to teenage girls – dismembered the body of 16-year-old Becky with a circular saw and hid her remains in a shed in Bristol. Last night a source said: “He seems to be enjoying his time
PATRICK WILLIAMS behind bars and is getting his name down for lots for activities in the sports department like the weights and bowls. “He also spends a lot of time watching daytime telly in his cell but when he gets out of his cell he takes the opportunity to mingle with other inmates.”
Long Lartin – a Category A prison where it costs the taxpayer £69,331 a year to house a single prisoner – has extensive sports facilities.
Inmates can also play tennis, badminton, basketball and football outside on an all-weather artificial surface.
The prison has a classroom where inmates have the opportunity to “gain nationally accredited qualifications”. And prisoners who want to improve their physique are even allowed to buy body-building supplements like protein shakes and powders from the prison canteen.
Others continue their workouts after lockdown by using large pop bottles as dumbbells and lifting sports bags filled with heavy books and magazines.
