Sandow will shine this time

The Londoner faces Italy’s Andrea Di Luisa on Saturday in his first fight since losing a split points decision to US-based Swede Badou Jack for the WBC super-middleweight title in September.

That defeat in Las Vegas followed two stoppage losses to British rival Carl Froch for other versions of the world title in 2014.

Despite those defeats to his UK rival, wins over Christopher Rebrasse and Denis Douglin got Groves back on track before the disappointment against Jack.

And Groves, 27, says he never thought about hanging up his gloves after a third career defeat and is targeting a shot at German

JULIE STOTT CHRIS SANDOW is ready to win over the fans who turned on him in a horror start to his Warrington career.

That is the promise from Wolves coach Tony Smith, now he has seen the once-troubled Aussie finally settle down.

Sandow (below) was released by Parramatta Eels in the NRL after falling out with the coach and suffering a torrid time with supporters. But his move to Super League was not without trouble, with Wolves fans also finding him less than impressive.

He flopped on his debut and failed to make much of an impression in the following matches.

But Smith believes the experience is now well and truly behind Sandow – and that he is ready to put on a show. Smith said: “He did okay but he was a bit of a shell of a man. “He had been through a horrific time in Australia, in the press and being scrutinised in his last club. “He is much more settled and down to earth at this stage and he understands what is required of him in Super League.

“He has got some good assistance around him and Kurt Gidley has been great for him. Kurt will take the pressure off him.

“Chris is reactive and reads the play and then reacts to it, whereas Kurt is a good organiser and a steady man.

“Kurt gives a real calmness to the players around him and will free Chris up to do some of his stuff.”

Warrington play Leigh in a friendly this afternoon.
