JACOBS’ Crackers

-

JACOB CATS at 10-3 and Asbury Boss at 4-1 headlined PJ’s winners last week with several big-priced placed selections.

SUNDAY SERVICE Just the two meetings on the flat to look forward to and MEDICIMAN has been on my radar since his seasonal debut at Sandown last month.

That day the youngster was not given a hard time over 7f once his chance had gone and the step up to a galloping mile at Doncaster (3.00) looks perfect.

A fast surface suits him well and with a couple of prominent racers in the field he should get a good pace to chase.

That old warrior HIGHLAND ACCLAIM ran well at the Town Moor track at the last meeting, and with his tendency to pull early, the drop back to 6f in the 3.30 looks a good move.

Now a full 9lb below his last winning mark, the David O’Meara charge looks sure to go well at a double-figure price.

The best wager at Salisbury could be TRAINNAH in the maiden fillies’ event at 3.15.

The daughter of Pivotal was given a lovely introduction on her debut when a never nearer second behind Snow Moon at Nottingham and the extra yardage here looks made to measure

Later on at the Wiltshire track have a second look at ABSOLUTELY SO (Nap) at an each-way price in the at 3.45.

THE WEEK AHEAD A week of the best flat racing in the world dominates the sport at Royal Ascot and with plenty of rain forecast I have already had a solid each-way bet on WESTERN HYMN in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

There is every chance that the Japanese horse A Shin Hikari could be a level above these but he is not guaranteed to replicate his French success. Some give in the ground would hinder Time Test, Found and The Grey Gatsby and that could see Western Hymn, trained by John Gosden (left), hitting the frame for the second successive year. So grab the 16-1 available. The Ascot Gold Cup on Thursday has lost some of its gloss with Bondi Beach set to miss the race and stablemate ORDER OF ST GEORGE should readily see off a bunch of ordinary stayers.

But there are better value wagers across the week and STEVE ROGERS could be worth another chance in the Ascot Stakes after blowing out in the Chester Cup. His current odds of 16-1 are way too big. I shall also be playing on WAADY (e/w) in the King’s Stand Stakes and PRIZE MONEY gets the vote in the Tercentenary Stakes on Thursday.
