TV kids targeted by trolls

SHOW’S YOUNG STARS SUFFER ONLINE ABUSE

-

INTERNET trolls have been attacking the young stars of Gogglesprogs, branding them “fat”.

Twitter bullies called the kids, some as young as five, “bloaters” who need to be “lifted by a crane”.

The Gogglebox spin-off features youngsters aged up to 12 commenting on television shows.

But appearing in the series has made them the target of abuse.

Twitter user Steve Brockbank moaned: “Just had to endure Gogglesprogs on the tele. There’s s*** loads of fat little kids on the sofas. Should get off the sofa and run around a bit.”

And Gary Strang posted: “F***ing hell. Kids are so fat these days. Shame on you, crap parents.”

Michael Royer messaged Channel 4 chiefs directly and asked: “Why are the children on the show so fat?

“Hire some children who don’t need to be lifted by a crane every morning.”

Another user said: “Why are most of these kids so bloody fat? Get some exercise you little bloaters.”

Gogglesprogs first aired last year as a festive special on Christmas Day – ED GLEAVE TV Editor and it went down a storm with many viewers. Bosses quickly commissioned a full series which has seen the youngsters watching shows including Take Me Out and The Undateables. Producers scoured kids’ clubs and cinemas in their hunt to find the most entertaining children for the new series. Valencia, 13, Tearna, 10, and Christina, nine, are among those who won over many viewers. But Twitter user Jamie Peake said: “Fat ginger kid on Gogglesprogs is a massive arsehole.” A show insider last night said: “It is just disgraceful that trolls are being so nasty about children. “You’d think they would realise how inappropriate that sort of behaviour is. “To focus on a child’s weight is a really dangerous thing to do because it could be seen by a youngster who is using Twitter. “The show aims to celebrate Britain’s children, so this sort of bullying is really sad to see.” Gogglebox launched five years ago and became Channel 4’s biggest show.
