BRIAN ON THE BRINK

-

The giant Tonga international has burst on to the scene with a bang, getting sin-binned and scoring twice in his first two games.

But 19-stone prop Fifita, who had never scored in his career before, admits he has mainly come to Super League to help injury-jinxed brother Latu who plays for Workington.

He said: “It’s a big move but it’s for family reasons and family always comes first.”

Fifita, 27, said: “Latu is going through a bit of a tough time so I came over here to help him out. He suffered a season-long injury last year and he was recently told he is out with another season injury so he is a bit down.

“I have come over here to make him laugh and smile. It was hard to move from Cronulla when they are top of the ladder but family comes first.”

Fifita – the twin brother of Australia Test star Andrew – added: “I always IT’S make-or-break time for champions Leeds this afternoon at home to Widnes.

Last year’s treble winners will be doomed to a Middle Eights relegation battle, with three games left, if they lose.

Widnes will all but clinch their top-eight spot if they beat Brian McDermott’s strugglers and coach Denis Betts urged his men not to wilt under the pressure.

He said: “Leeds have a star-studded international side and were always going to turn some effort into wins. But they JULIE STOTT have a tough run-in so, to get anywhere near, they have to win all four games. But our focus has got to be on ourselves.”

The rock-bottom Rhinos welcome back Brett Delaney, Carl Ablett and Ashton Golding while winger Stefan Marsh returns for the Vikings who have lost 10 of their last 12 Super League matches.
