DEONE GETS MISS GB TIARA AFTER SEX SCANDAL ‘I’ll be a sash hit as Zara stand-in’
NEW Miss Great Britain Deone Robertson waited three weeks to get her crown.
Shamed Zara Holland had hoped to keep the shiny tiara despite being stripped of her title for having sex on telly.
Glasgow beauty Deone, 28, said: “I had to wait a little while. Because of the way it all happened and the circumstances, I didn’t want to rush it.
“It must have been really difficult for Zara to give up the crown. She understands the reasons but she might not agree with them. They were unfortunate circumstances.
“She still has a sash so I’m sure she’ll hold on to that forever.”
After it was announced Deone was taking over as Miss Great Britain she tried to get hold of Zara, 20.
She said: “Myself and the Miss GB organisers tried to get in contact with her. But we weren’t able to speak to her. She’s very busy.”
Deone will hold the title until September when the next pageant will take place. After finally being handed the crown, she celebrated by posing with it in our exclusive photoshoot. She added: “Now it’s fallen to me to step up
and take on the ED GLEAVE role. And I just want to enjoy the opportunity and make the most of it. Now I’ve got the crown and sash it all feels real.” Zara ended up in hot water with Miss Great Britain chiefs after romping with Alex Bowen on ITV2 series Love Island. Officials claim she vowed to behave on the show. Professional dancer Deone said: “I couldn’t imagine doing something like that and having everyone watching my every move. It would be so bizarre. “I don’t think I could handle reality TV in the first instance. “The generation we live in is all about reality television. But I’m happier when I’m watching it at home. “After what happened, I think everyone is going to be a bit more reluctant with reality TV now. “It’s not really my choice to say whether what Zara did was right or wrong. “It’s just unfortunate they were the rules that were there. “And then the rules were broken and the Miss GB organisers were put in an awkward position. I’m sure she’ll have an amazing future though.”
