Desperate to protect her son, and out for revenge after discovering Andy had a night of passion with Bernice before she left the village, Chrissie frames Andy for the Home Farm shooting.

Having already hidden the gun her wayward son Lachlan used to shoot her troubled dad, Chrissie plants it in Andy’s car. When it’s discovered in the boot she knows it will put him in the frame for attempted murder.

An Emmerdale insider said: “Andy has no idea that the gun is in the boot of his car when the police stop him.

“He protests his innocence and tells them he has no idea how it ended up there.

“But they have no choice but to arrest him on suspicion of attempting to kill Lawrence. “Chrissie’s original motivation was to protect her son but

when she discovered what Andy had done she saw a way of getting her own back on him as well. “She is very manipulative and pretends to be surprised when she learns of Andy’s arrest. “When he is remanded in custody she visits him in prison and even pretends to be on his side, telling him she believes he is innocent. “Andy is grateful for her support and has no idea that she is the reason he’s in this mess.” Watch things unfold on ITV on Wednesday.
