Stewart can fire Dragons

- By JULIE STOTT

GLENN STEWART will be hoping to stop the rot of a disastrous Catalans Dragons run today.

The French side are in danger of imploding, having lost four Super League games on the trot, as well as crashing out of the Challenge Cup at the quarter-final stage to Hull.

But former Aussie Test star Stewart, 32 (below) is on the verge of a return from injury to give them a much-needed boost as the regular season draws to a close. Coach Laurent Frayssinous also has winger Jodie Broughton back from injury but Pat Richards and Willie Mason will miss out. Eighth-placed Widnes also badly need a win to prevent their season from fizzling out after three defeats in their last four games.

Vikings coach Denis Betts said: “We have still got loads to play for but every player needs to get rid of the errors in their game.

“If we do that we will be a strong side but we have missed out in three or four crucial games by a score when we have been the better team.” Widnes v Catalans
