TROUBLED teenager Bethany Platt collapses during a gruelling workout after getting hooked on diet pills. The blonde has been targeted by a gang of bullies for months, with twisted Lauren and her mates making cruel jibes about her weight.
Bethany is hurt by their comments and viewers will see her becoming more and more obsessed with shedding the pounds.
She has already joined the gym but is so desperate to lose weight she secretly starts popping diet pills.
As our pictures show, her actions have serious consequences for her health when she collapses.
Luckily gym manager Gary Windass rushes to her aid and Bethany regains consciousness. She assures him she is fine but Gary is not convinced.
Viewers will have to wait to see whether he discovers she has been taking diet pills while putting herself through punishing workouts.
A Corrie insider said: “Bethany helps her family to smile again on what would have been Kylie’s birthday.
“David buys a garden swing for Max and Lily and Bethany has a go. The swing breaks and she is left in a heap on the grass.
“Craig Tinker takes a picture and posts it online, but this leads to more jibes from Lauren and her gang.
“When a parcel containing diet pills arrives she starts taking them and hitting the gym without thinking of the toll it is taking.”
Soap boss Kate Oates said: “Bethany is a teenage girl feeling out of control of her life – something a lot of people can relate to. Her way of managing that is to take diet pills and over-exercise.”
