Night Tube is on track
BRITAIN’S first 24-hour train service kicked off in London this weekend, sparking fears boozed-up commuters could go off the rails.
The capital’s Underground network began running through-the-night services on its Central and Victoria Lines, allowing revellers to stay out later without worrying about missing their last train home.
Around 50,000 passengers were said to have used the Night Tube on Friday. It was intended to begin in September 2015 but was delayed by unions complaining the extended hours were unfair on workers.
The first night’s service passed without drama as British Transport Police said they had received just four calls and were unaware of any crimes.
A study by business membership organisation London First estimated it could be worth £77million a year to the capital’s economy by 2029.
