Bolt in US film dash
USAIN Bolt is to dash to Hollywood to sign a movie deal,
Two major studios, Fox and Paramount, have prepared massive bids for the film rights to the Olympic hero’s life story.
And others are expected to join the race to make a big-budget biopic about his rise from a small town in Jamaica.
LA-based media analyst Mike Raia said yesterday: “A major bidding war is imminent and Usain stands to make tens of millions from being immortalised in a movie.” Mr Raia said fans can also expect several new documentaries on the sprinter, including one titled I Am Bolt, which will feature his latest track glory in Brazil.
But he added: “As well as a bonanza from the feature film, he is going to make incredible money from commercials for the next decade and beyond.
“From now on, he’ll be on a par with the likes of David Beckham, Kobe Bryant and Lewis Hamilton.”
Bolt, 29, said he will retire from competitive athletics after Rio.
He is expected to fly to LA in the coming weeks to seal his movie deal.
