RESULT! Vela’s strike keeps Trotters in top spot

Josh Vela (below) fired a late winner as Bolton came from behind to beat Fleetwood 2-1 and maintain their 100 per cent start. Gary Madine equalised for the visitors in the 51st minute to cancel out David Ball’s 34th-minute opener.

Scunthorpe climbed to second by thrashing Gillingham 5-0 at Glanford Park. Kevin van Veen gave them an early lead, Josh Morris put the home side two up from the penalty spot and Jordan Clarke headed a third in first-half stoppage time.

Morris fired his second of the game and Tom Hopper completed the rout.

Bradford moved into third place with a 3-1 home win against Coventry. Loanee Dan Agyei fired the home side ahead after 13 minutes, but Tony McMahon levelled from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.

McMahon set up Mark Marshall to fire Bradford ahead two minutes later and converted his second penalty in the 75th minute.

Sheffield United slumped to the bottom of the table as Millwall clinched a 2-1 home win. Stefan Scougall quickly cancelled out Shaun Miller’s 14th-minute opener for Millwall, but Steve Morison converted from the spot in the 89th minute.

Chesterfie­ld lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury. Junior Brown’s first-half header cancelled out Chesterfie­ld’s opener from Jay O’Shea and Adam El-Abd nodded in an 84th-minute winner.

Nicky Ajose scored in both halves for Charlton in a 2-1 victory at Walsall. Kieron Morris’ had equalised in the 72nd minute. Oxford won 2-1 at home to Peterborou­gh thanks to Chris Maguire’s stoppageti­me penalty. Wes Thomas had given Oxford the lead a minute after the interval and Tom Nichols had equalised.

Bradley Barry scored in the 47th minute to secure Swindon a 1-0 home win against Port Vale and Oldham won 1-0 at Bury after Leon Barnett headed into his own net in the 10th minute.

Simon Cox’s 81st-minute penalty earned Southend a 1-1 home draw against Bristol Rovers, who had taken a 61st-minute lead through Peter Hartley.

MK Dons won 1-0 at Rochdale and Northampto­n were held 0-0 at home by AFC Wimbledon.
