Steyn removal

HISTORY IS MADE IN LIAM LEAPS IN FRONT SLICK VICKY’S OLD PALS AXE

LIAM HEATH became Britain’s most successful canoe sprinter of all time after adding the men’s K-1 200m to the silver he and Jon Schofield took on Thursday.

Heath, 32, edged a neck-and-neck battle with France’s Maxime Beaumont. He said: “I’ve got the set now – bronze in London, silver and gold here, it’s incredible.” VICKY HOLLAND outsprinted best friend and housemate Non Stanford to win bronze for Great Britain in the triathlon.

The pair, who train alongside the Brownlees in Leeds, were locked together throughout the race and faced a head-tohead shoot-out after Gwen Jorgensen and 2012 winner Nicola Spirig broke clear.

Holland waited until the final 100 metres to put in her kick to become the first British woman to win a medal in triathlon.

Devastated Stanford collapsed in a heap before the pair shared an emotional hug. SOUTH AFRICA quickie Dale Steyn removed both New Zealand openers before rain ended the second day of the first Test in Durban.

Just 22 overs were possible as the weather took a hold but in the short time available Steyn showed that a result was still very much on his agenda.

New Zealand needed 10 overs to claim the final two wickets they needed to wrap up the Proteas’ first innings for 263.

Steyn then got to work on New Zealand’s reply, claiming Tom Latham and Martin Guptill’s wickets before the rain set in with the Kiwis on 15 for two.
