Tom filled with fear of failure

-

TOM Hanks has won two Oscars but he still panics about his acting ability.

He revealed he has had meltdowns when he felt unable to deliver a strong performance.

In his latest movie role he plays hero Captain John Sully, the pilot who safely landed a crippled jet on the Hudson river in New York.

Hanks, 60, said his confidence is often challenged. He said: “It’s something that is real to all of us – the shark terror of a loss of confidence in ourselves.

“No matter who we are, no matter what we’ve done, there comes a point where you think ‘how did I get here and am I going to be able to continue this?’

“When are they going to discover that I am, in fact, a fraud and take everything away from me? It’s a highwire act we all walk.

“And I do this in the work that I do because there are days when I know that tomorrow afternoon, I am going to have to deliver some degree of emotional goods.

“And if I can’t do it, that means I’m going to have to fake it. And if I fake it, that means they may catch me faking it. And if they catch me faking it, well, then it’s just doomsday.”

Hanks won Best Actor Oscars in 1993 and 1994 for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. AN album to calm down cats is set to be released.

The moggy must-have contains sounds such as purring as well as cello music.

Creator David Tele explained: “I saw how music could calm humans, so I thought: ‘Why not cats?’”

Music for Cats comes out next month.
