Bill wings in a book

A COUPLE who met on Deal or No Deal have hit the love jackpot after getting engaged.

Lyn Carr and Graham Whipp both beat The Banker when they appeared on the TV gameshow last year.

But it was their on-screen flirting that had viewers captivated, with host Noel Edmonds even joking about their “obvious chemistry”.

The pair started dating and now they are banking on a happy life together after Graham proposed on holiday earlier this month.

He asked Lyn to marry him during a helicopter ride in Florida.

Graham said he did not plan to pop the question before the trip but it “felt completely right”.

He went ring shopping while he was out there and hit on the idea of a mid-air proposal.

Now they plan to be the first couple to wed after appearing on the show where a pool of 22 ISOBEL DICKINSON contestants take it in turn to open red boxes for the chance to win up to £250,000.

They even plan to ask Noel along. Instead of saying ‘I do’ vows they will say ‘deal’ in a tribute to the show.

Lyn said: “We are going to invite Noel.

“I think he’ll feel like he predicted the future. He was certainly instrumental to our relationship.

“Graham said we need to get someone to say ‘Lyn, will you take Graham, deal or no deal?’ when we get married.

“He said he was planning to ask that when he proposed but got carried away with the moment.”

Graham won £50,000 in the episode he starred in last April, while viewers saw Lyn come away with £6,000 in May.

At the end of filming, he finally plucked up the courage to ask Lyn out, and they have been dating ever since.

Graham spent his cash setting up a building company, throwing a big party for his friends and family, and taking Lyn on a holiday to Jamaica.

After her win she also splashed out on a sunshine trip to Ibiza with Graham and her children Sophie 24, Chloe 22, Max, 15, and Evan, 11.

Lyn, from Newcastle, said she and Graham, from Roydon, Essex, met up every two weeks as they got to know one another.

As the weeks turned to months, the pair fell in love and met each other’s families. Lyn, who only signed up for the show when her two daughters became unemployed, said her children were delighted about their news. She added: “We are absolutely over the moon. “At this stage it’s still early days. We haven’t set a date yet but hope we can get married next year.” Earlier this month it was announced the show was being axed after 11 years on our screens. Channel 4 said the studio-based programme would end this autumn but episodes would be filmed on tour around Britain at the end of the year. Noel said it was “the beginning of an exciting new era”, adding he had wanted to take the show on tour “for years”. COMEDIAN Bill Bailey has written a humorous guide to his favourite British birds.

Bill, 52, has enjoyed bird watching since he was a child in the West Country.

Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide To British Birds is a collection of observations and thoughts about our feathered friends.

Bill, who is currently on tour with his show Limbo Land, said: “Writing this book has been a real pleasure. My hope is that it will encourage people of all ages to discover the world of birds.”

In 2010 he presented Bill Bailey’s Birdwatching Bonanza, a gameshow on Sky1.

His book is out next month and is now available to preorder on Amazon.
