Ross gets off to a roaring start

-

BRITAIN’S climate gave cast and crew a headache during filming for the new series.

Aidan Turner, who is back as Ross Poldark tonight, has admitted it was hell filming on location in Cornwall during the winter.

He even feared the wet and windy conditions would turn the drama into a “crappy panto”. Aidan said: “Sometimes we actors are face to face and you can’t hear what people are saying. So what you do is raise the levels and you shout. It is a sad thing to do as you lose those emotions. “You have to do it and get it right as you don’t have another day to go back. You have to try to keep that emotion and make sure it does not look like some crappy panto.” Poldark writer Debbie Horsfield added: “The set gets blown away. And we have not got the money to have all the cast we want, so sometimes we have to make our cast work harder than they want. “We are doing one and a half books this time as the original books are much fatter and we did not want to skimp.” Poldark is back tonight at 9pm on BBC One. ALEX Jones reckons her on-screen chemistry with Matt Baker has helped make them a hit with viewers.

A special programme tomorrow will mark The One Show’s 10 years on the box.

Mum-to-be Alex said of Matt: “He’s an all-rounder. Very trustworthy, very reliable. Somebody you’d want as your best friend. A brilliant, brilliant person to work with.

“We have a laugh. You come to work and you know you’re going to have a good time. But Matt and I would never be going to a premiere or a party after work. We’re just not like that at all.”

Big name guests over the years have included Sir Elton John, Dolly Parton, David Beckham and Oprah Winfrey. Army them. say ‘th
