Danny joy as hitman strikes for top Hatters

DANNY HYLTON smashed a hat-trick as Luton climbed top of League Two with a 4-1 win at home to Wycombe.

Matt Bloomfield scored for the Hatters in between Hylton’s second and third goals, before Jordan Cook netted in the last minute.

Stevenage thrashed Hartlepool 6-1, with Tyler Walker (2), Dean Wells, a Michael Tonge penalty, Matt Godden and Tom Pett doing the damage. Nathan Thomas replied for Boro.

Morecambe lost top spot after slipping to their first home league defeat of the season. Leyton Orient went ahead with Liam Kelly’s curling effort and although the Shrimps equalised through Kevin Ellison, Jordan Bowery stole the points.

Plymouth’s Sonny Bradley headed an injury-time winner against Cheltenham to lift the Pilgrims up to third place.

Portsmouth beat Crawley 3-0 at Fratton Park, all the goals coming in the first half from Curtis Main (2) and Gary Roberts.

Doncaster slipped to sixth after James Jones’ late winner secured Crewe a 2-1 win at Gresty Road.

Veteran striker Ryan Lowe headed Crewe ahead, Tommy Rowe equalised from the spot but Jones hit the winner three minutes from time.

Mansfield drew 0-0 at home to Cambridge.

Colchester dropped to eighth after losing 3-2 at home to Exeter.

Robbie Simpson opened the scoring for the visitors but the U’s led at the break with goals from Sammie Szmodics and Kurtis Guthrie.

But Ollie Watkins and Joel Grant won it for the Grecians.

Carlisle remain unbeaten after a 1-1 draw at home to Accrington, Nicky Adams cancelling out Billy Kee’s opener for the visitors.

Notts County came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Grimsby, who led through Shaun Pearson and Omar Bogle.

Jonathan Forte started the fightback and Michael O’Connor missed a penalty before Aaron Collins levelled in the 89th minute.

Yeovil went down 3-0 at home to Blackpool, with Colin Daniel (2) and Armand Gnanduille­t – who also missed a penalty – on target.

Newport saw their home game against Barnet abandoned at half-time as heavy rain left the pitch unplayable. John Akinde had put the visitors ahead after just 23 seconds.
