McNamara set for more York glory

-

FEWER jockeys have made a bigger impression this season as young Adam McNamara.

Richard Fahey’s apprentice looks an absolute natural and showed his talent when riding a peach of a race to win the Ebor on Heartbreak City two weeks ago. Today he returns to the scene of his greatest career triumph at York when he rides Pointillism on the Knavesmire in the 5.10.

Trained by the in-form Iain Jardine, Pointillism notched back-to-back victories before just being foiled when bidding for a hat-trick at Goodwood. He is upped in trip to 1m 4f today and remains a well handicapped horse. McNamara’s 3lb claim will be a bonus. On the formbook, Danzeno looks a shoo-in in the Betfred Garrowby Stakes (3.10). His third to Muhaarar in a Group One at Ascot last season is by far and away the best form in the race.

But he can be a little in and out and it might be worth taking a chance with Ann JASON HEAVEY Duffield’s George Dryden, who won at this corresponding meeting last year. He will need the rain to stay away though as he needs good or fast ground to show his best form. David O’Meara’s yard is in decent nick and he has the chance of a double with Dundunah (3.40) and Ingleby Hollow (4.10). Dundunah was very heavily backed on his debut when running a promising second before pulling too hard last time out. Richard Johnson has some good rides at Fontwell as he jousts with Sam Twiston-Davies in the jump jockeys’ championship. Argot is not his most obvious winner but is nicely weighted (4.50) and would not mind if the ground turned soft. Kentford Heiress (2.20) and Diable De Sivola (2.50) are others who look set for victory at Fontwell, with the former on a hat-trick.
