Wilshere’s not on his Jack in loan switches

-

IF Chelsea fans are still scratching their heads over the return of David Luiz, then what must be going through the minds of Arsenal supporters over Jack Wilshere’s loan to Bournemouth?

Wilshere’s season-long switch to the south coast is yet another move which makes a mockery of the loan system.

It was introduced into football with the honest, noble aim of trying to help youngsters gain experience at clubs without spending power.

But in just a few hours on transfer deadline day the Loan Rangers became a posse. Wilshere (right) was part of an entire Premier League starting XI who moved on loan for the season.

Goalkeeper: Lee Grant (Derby to Stoke).

Defence: Jon Flanagan (Liverpool to Burnley), Calum Chambers (Arsenal to Middlesbrough), Jason Denayer (Man City to Sunderland), Brendan Galloway (Everton to West Brom).

Midfield: Nathan Ake (Chelsea to Bournemouth), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal to Bournemouth), Patrick Bamford (Chelsea to Burnley).

Attack: Adnan Januzaj (Man United to Sunderland), Loic Remy (Chelsea to Crystal Palace), Wilfried Bony (Man City to Stoke).

Sub: Enner Valencia (West Ham to Everton).

This was not what the loan system was supposed to be about.

Joe Hart and Samir Nasri’s moves to TONY STENSON Torino and Sevilla respectively were completely different. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola simply did not fancy either player. The loan system is being abused – and Arsenal legend Paul Merson is amazed the Gunners have allowed Wilshere, 24, to join Bournemouth for the season. “My worry is he could lose the love of Arsenal,” said Merson. “He could easily look at this and think, ‘Why am I the one going on loan?’” For now, Wilshere is raring to get started for The Cherries. He said: “I met a few managers but the one that stood out was Eddie Howe and as soon as I met him I wanted to get down here and get started. “I think he can develop me as a player and that’s what it’s all about for me. “The manager here is known for bringing players forward and developing their games. He made it clear what his plans are and I am looking forward to working with him.” Bookies have already made Wilshere 3-1 to score on his debut and 10-1 to hit 10 goals for the season. Bournemouth fans got their first glimpse of Wilshere in a Cherries shirt yesterday as he started Warren Cummings’ testimonial. Tyrone Mings also started the game at Dean Court, with both players being replaced at half-time as Howe’s side lost 2-1 to AC Milan.
