Max bids for Celeb Isle spot

-

JAMES INGHAM DOUBLE Olympic champ Max Whitlock wants to take on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.

The gymnastics star has issued a “come and get me” plea to producers on the Channel 4 reality show.

Both I’m A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing have been keen to sign up Rio hero Max.

But the 23-year-old said: “Strictly doesn’t really appeal and I’m not that bothered about the jungle.

“The one I really want to do is Bear Grylls’ The Island.

“It is real survival mode and I’d like to challenge myself to see how I cope in those situations.

“That would be the one that appealed, so if they are interested and I’m allowed to do it I would.”

Made In Chelsea star Ollie Locke, TOWIE babe Lydia Bright and former JLS star Aston Merrygold are on the current series.

But Max said he would be happy on the non-celeb version if it meant he could take part alongside his older sibling.

He added: “I really want to see if I can go on with my brother. I think it would be an incredible experience to do together.”

Max is among the early favourites for December’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.

He said: “Sports Personality is such a tough field this year.

“I just hope I make the top ten list again for a third year in a row. It would be a massive honour.”

Celebrity Island is back tonight from 9pm on Channel 4.
