Hampshire ace is out to con-Vince his critics

-

JAMES VINCE flies out to Bangladesh this week on a mission to prove he has the mental steel to thrive on the international stage.

The Hampshire batsman knows he needs to prove his critics wrong having been dealt a Test squad snub after failing in the summer.

He was dropped for the ODIs with Pakistan due to his poor form but has now been brought back into the fold for the three one-day games against Bangladesh. Vince, 25, averaged less than 20 in GARY FITZGERALD his seven Tests this year but aims to prove he can still be an all-round batsman and wants a another chance on the five-day stage.

Eoin Morgan’s decision not to tour helped open the door for Vince (right) again and he said: “The selectors are showing more faith in me and I want to repay them for it.

“I still have plenty of belief in my own ability. My confidence is still strong but, naturally, I had hoped to make much more of an impact for England in both the Tests and ODIs.

“I had some good chances this summer to make a Test spot my own but did not take them.”

England fly to Bangladesh on Thursday and Jos Buttler said: “We are only a couple of places above them in the world rankings so we know it will be a tough series.”
