Jervis at double for Adams’ high-flyers

PLYMOUTH stay five points clear at the top of League Two after thumping Yeovil 4-1.

Jimmy Spencer’s superb curling shot and Jake Jervis’ deflected effort made it 2-0 before Darren Ward pulled one back.

A Graham Carey goal and Jervis’ second sealed the points for Derek Adams’ side.

Doncaster are second after a 2-1 victory at Portsmouth. John Marquis and Andy Williams (below) made it 2-0, with Carl Baker replying for Pompey.

Carlisle beat Colchester 2-0 to stay unbeaten and go third, Jason Kennedy and Jabo Ibehre getting on the scoresheet.

Danny Hylton hit a fine solo goal for Luton but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cheltenham, with Daniel O’Shaughness­y levelling in the 64th minute.

Padraig Amond scored twice against his former club as Hartlepool ran out 3-0 winners at Grimsby.

Goalkeeper Will Norris saved two injury-time penalties as nine-man Cambridge beat Accrington 2-1 in an astonishin­g finish.

Norris saved from Chris Eagles in the first minute of stoppage time after over 10-man Gillingham, who had Rory Donnelly sent-off late on.

Wes Thomas and Chris Maguire’s late goals helped Oxford to a 2-0 victory at Bolton.

Charlton’s miserable run continued as Calvin Andrew’s first-half strike gave Rochdale a fourth win on the bounce.

Johnnie Jackson missed a second-half penalty for the Addicks. Gary Deegan was sent off as Shrewsbury and Swindon shared the points with a 1-1 draw, John Goddard heading the Robins in front and Ivan Toney equalising. Goals from Simeon Jackson and Franck Moussa either side of a Fred Onyedinma equaliser gave Walsall a 2-1 over Millwall.

Anthony Wordsworth missed a second-half penalty for Southend in a 1-1 draw at home to Peterborou­gh. He did score in the 78th minute but Marcus Maddison equalised in the 90th.

MK Dons heaped more misery on Oldham with a 2-0 win at Boundary Park thanks to goals from Ben Reeves and Kieran Agard. Leon Legge, who had scored the first goal, was sent off. And the keeper saved Terry Gornell’s spot-kick after Brad Halliday was dismissed for punching Matty Pearson’s header off the line. Piero Mingoia struck what proved the winner nine minutes from time. Adebayo Akinfenwa grabbed the only goal of the game for Wycombe against Exeter five minutes from time, while Mark Connolly’s header from a corner was enough for Crawley to see off Barnet with Leyton Orient.

Crewe came from behind to take a point in a 1-1 draw with Mansfield.

Pat Hoban headed home at the far post to give the Stags a 51st-minute lead.

Chris Dagnall equalised five minutes later.

Notts County’s match with Morecambe was abandoned after 10 minutes due to torrential rain, thunder and lightning, while the game between Newport and Stevenage was postponed due to a waterlogge­d pitch.
