MUM SHAMED INTO LOSING 10st

-

MUM Emma Walker lost 10st after being too fat for ‘floor play’ at her mother and baby club.

As a size 26 and weighing 19st 4lbs, she was too fat to kneel on the floor to play with son Ted like the other mums.

On top of the shame of having to sit on a chair while other slimmer mums cooed over their babies on the floor, Emma dreaded weaning Ted because she feared passing on her bad eating habits.

So she signed up to a meal replacement plan when Ted was 12 weeks old, ditching all food for shakes.

And by the time Ted had turned one she was eight stones lighter.

Her son is now two and Emma is a size 10, weighing 9st 12lbs, having lost 9st 6lbs.

The teacher-turned-slimming consultant says she can now get down on the floor to play with her son easily as well as running around after him.

Emma, 36, said: “Looking after a newborn when you’ve a Body Mass Index over 41 is exhausting. I was a mess physically and emotionally.

“I was barely able to bend down to pick him up, let alone sit on the floor and play with him.

“My hips and knees were painful and I was so envious of the other mums at baby groups who could sit or kneel with their little ones.

“My son deserved better so I did it for him and now, hopefully, he will never have to hear the kind of nasty comments I used to put up with. Now we love getting on the floor to do a puzzle and play trains.”

Emma says her weight spiralled out of control when she went to university. Living on a diet of pizza and beer for three years saw her balloon. But that didn’t EXCLUSIVE KELLY STRANGE stop her meeting her future husband, planning and logistics manager Neil.

Emma managed to lose six stones for her wedding in 2010, but within a few months she had started gaining weight again.

Giant portions and her sweet tooth meant by 2015 she was 19 stone. When she found out she was pregnant in February 2014 she was warned her weight put both her and her baby at risk.

After Ted was born Emma found looking after him tough.

She said: “I was constantly out of breath and uncomfortable and it hit me that it was only going to get harder as Ted got older and started crawling around.

“I was also terrified that if I weaned him I would pass on my terrible habits.

“Deep down I knew I had to lead by example but I was still gorging on junk and takeaways.”

In January 2015, when Ted was three months old, she ditched meals for meal replacement shakes and lost 10lbs in her first week on the Cambridge Weight Plan.

Emma said: “It might sound clichéd but it really has changed my life. Every mother wants to be the best mum they can be and now I know I am.

“I now feel 10 out of 10, which is all that matters.” I REALLY scared the postman today by going to the door naked.

I’m not sure what scared him more, my naked body or the fact that I knew where he lived. BIG GRAEME London I ASKED my North Korean friend how life was over there.

He said he couldn’t complain. DAFT BOZ via email THIS bloke said to me: “John, as a young boy was your mum very strict?”

I said: “My mum was never a young boy.” MY friend is covered from head to toe in grass. Her name is Lorna. JOHN POPE Isle of Wight
