LOVE ROO! Old Trafford’s admiration for skipper is not on the Wayne says Jose – after axing him

-

STEVE MILLAR that Old Trafford was behind him. They were supporting him during the warm-up before he came on against Stoke. “So I think at Manchester United he feels at home. At Manchester United he feels the respect he deserves. “Not at Anfield, obviously – but he knows that here he is respected.” Mourinho will think long and hard before tomorrow’s showdown with the old enemy about how his starting line up will shape up, although Rooney looks likely to wear a sub’s bib once more. But whoever plays at Anfield, the United boss has promised they will be on their best behaviour. Anfield can be a bear pit for opposing teams – particularly when their hated rivals from down the East Lancs Road are in town. And with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp famed for his touchline “enthusiasm”, Mourinho pledged that he would not become the Agitated One in the Kop cauldron. Mourinho added: “Our disciplinary record is really, really good. “That is what we are doing the whole season. We don’t have any problems at all at this level. “We are a team which plays with discipline. We are a team which is following everything that was told to us in the meetings we had with the Premier League and the representatives of the Premier League.

“And the referees. We don’t press referees. We behave on the touchline so that is a point that we are very comfortable with.”

The United boss is licking his lips at the prospect of pitting his wits against Klopp but will not take any extra pleasure in beating Liverpool in their own backyard.

Mourinho, asked if he took more satisfaction from getting one over the old foe, added: “No. For me, playing Liverpool is to play against a big club.

“In Madrid, I wanted to play against Barcelona. I wanted to play against Atletico, against Valencia. In Inter, I wanted to play against Milan, against Juventus, against Roma.

“In Chelsea, I wanted to play against Manchester United, against Liverpool, against Arsenal – against all the big clubs in the country.

“And now at Manchester United it is the same. So I love to play against the big opponents and Liverpool is a big opponent.

“I think we have a very difficult match tomorrow. But I think Liverpool also have a very difficult match. It is not for me t o say if t hey are t i t l e contenders or not.

“I think you have to ask them.”
