Louis on ‘curse of X Factor’
Prepare to lose plot, says Louis
LOUIS Walsh has warned X Factor wannabes they will “lose the plot” due to the show’s intense pressure.
The Irish music manager sat his group’s hopefuls down and told them they will have a meltdown in public.
His comments were mirrored by the 2010 runner-up Rebecca Ferguson who revealed every X Factor finalist has some sort of post-series breakdown.
Louis, 64, exclusively told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m trying to be honest with my contestants.
“I’ve worked on the show since day one and seen every act come and go and lose the plot.
“They listen to the wrong people, whether families, girlfriends or boyfriends.
“If they want a long and successful career they should listen to me or somebody in Syco (Simon Cowell’s record label).
“Somebody who’s seen all the acts come and go before.”
Previous X Factor stars including James Arthur, Matt Cardle, Cher Lloyd and Jahmene Douglas have all spoken of struggling with the pressure of instant fame and fortune. James, who is back at No.1 with his new single Say You Won’t Let Go, has been vocal about his battles with mental health issues following his 2012 win. He was axed by Syco due to offensive remarks during a public meltdown on Twitter. The 2010 champion, Matt checked into rehab in 2014 with a prescription drugs addiction and was dropped at the same time.
Police have already been notified this series after Bratavio and Honey G faced vile online death threats.
Even one of the show’s lasting success stories Rebecca, who has just released her fourth album Superwoman, said she had experienced troubled times.
The Liverpudlian singer, 30, said: “It is mentally a lot harder than people realise.
“You have new fame, new money, new friends, constant attention. It is really hard to deal with.”
