THIS WEEK:

We reveal secret agony behind Corrie’s big Pyscho Emma clings on

-

SHE pushed the love of her life to his death and caused the horrific multi-car crash that followed.

But in tomorrow night’s episode Emma Barton is still keeping it together as the police arrive to question her.

Psycho Emma was holding James captive at home but he grabbed the chance to escape after whacking her over the head with a wine bottle.

Emma then caught up with him and, following an emotional exchange, she lost it and shoved him off a bridge on to Ashley Thomas’ car. As the village struggles to understand what happened, Emma’s sons Pete, Ross and Finn have a lot of unanswered questions, as do the police.

An Emmerdale insider said: “Emma doesn’t know Ashley saw her and he can’t remember what happened. There are a lot of twists and turns coming.”

CORRIE actress Debbie Rush knew the perfect person to talk to for tips on her latest screen drama – her husband.

Millions saw her character Anna Windass become a human fireball in Friday’s episode.

She went up in flames after getting caught up in David Platt’s revenge plot when he crashed his car on the cobbles. And it was a nightmare her fella Andrew knew only too well.

Speaking for the first time about the storyline, Debbie said: “I spoke to Andrew straight away. He went very quiet but he didn’t say that he didn’t want me to do it as he knew I was relishing the challenge.

“He’s always been very supportive of my career but it must have been hard after what happened to him.

“He was with his brother and his friend and they were messing about trying to be fire-eaters after watching a variety show on TV.

“Some of the paraffin was on Andrew and he was set on fire. It burned through his clothes and burned his chest. It must have been an awful thing for a 10-year-old boy to suffer. Andrew has been able to tell me how it felt.”

She added: “Everyone’s experience is different but it is important to me because of what happened to Andrew and to others that we do this story justice. Anna’s recovery and how she copes is important. Andrew was a child, Anna is a grown woman, so it is different. On top of how she looks she can no longer be the woman she was and has to deal with all of that, so it is important we get it right.”

Debbie did the stunt herself and fellow actors Michael Le Vell and Ben Price were specially trained to put out the flames as it was Nick Tilsley and Kevin Webster who came to Anna’s rescue.

She added: “When our boss Kate Oates asked if I wanted to be set on fire, I said, ‘yes, as it’s not often you get to be James Bond in Corrie’.

“I asked Andrew to come along to watch as I wanted him to see how safe it was and how well looked after I was.

“I felt if he could see that, it was better than sitting at home worrying about it. He watched the stunt but filming overran and they had to delay me being set on fire to the following day.

“Andrew wasn’t available but he was relaxed knowing it was so safe. I rang him straight afterwards to say, ‘you’ve still got a wife’ as I knew part of him would be a bit worried.”

Debbie also revealed that her relationship with Kevin is going to be tested, adding: “Anna is put in an induced coma and when she comes round the first thing she is thinking is that she doesn’t want Kevin there out of pity, she wants him to love her not pity her and she doesn’t want him to feel he has to look after her – this is not what he signed up for.

“For the first six to eight weeks it is all about feeling that she is no longer the doer, the person looking after everyone, the person people turn to.”
