GUN FIRES TROPHIES WARNING Blues ace’s silverware vow

Aguero: KDB is one of the best

City revelled in a brilliant, flying start under Pep Guardiola when they were simply unbeatable.

But a Premier League defeat at Tottenham, followed by draws with Celtic and Everton before the midweek humiliation at Guardiola’s old club Barcelona has left City and their boss in a spin.

The snipers’ bullets peppered Pep (below) after the Nou Camp crash, with critics smirking that Guardiola’s brave new world was already showing signs of crumbling.

But Gundogan, the £ 21million summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, isn’t singing the Blues himself – and predicts City will still be the biggest hits of this season.

The midfielder said: “We have so much quality in our squad and great players. If we keep playing how we started in the first few weeks then I’m sure we can be really happy at the end of the season – and really successful.

“I don’t know in which competitions or exactly how but I’m sure we will be. We should just try to focus on the things we did in the past and we want to improve for the future.

“That is the big challenge for us and if we can handle that we will be very happy at the end of the season.

“We want to prove that we’re good enough to play against every team.

“We want to do it in stages and be as successful as possible. I am very glad to be a Manchester City player. I want to be successful and show my type of football.

“That’s why I’m here. That’s why the manager wanted to sign me. It’s a big STEVE MILLAR challenge and the next step for me after seven years in German football. “It was the right moment for me. The combination of the club and the manager at the right time was perfect for me and I didn’t want to miss this situation. “I was quite sure and very convinced this was right for me. The first weeks have proven it and I’m very happy.

“Pep Guardiola is tactical, always takes care of details and wants to show you how to do everything. Playing for him has lived up to expectations.

“I knew him from the Bundesliga and saw him coach Barcelona when everyone saw an excellent manager who is able to get players to improve.

“He is a great personality and a very nice guy. I’m very happy to learn from the best.”

Up next are Southampton this lunchtime with City desperate to banish that four-game winless run. And it is a clash Gundogan knows will further test City to the limit.

He said: “I’ve been very impressed with the way that Southampton have started the season. Lots of big teams struggle against them. It will be anything but an easy game.

“But we play at home and just want to play the football we played against Everton. If we do that we will be happy again.” SERGIO AGUERO thinks Man City team-mate Kevin de Bruyne is one of the TEN best players in the world right now.

The Argentina star reckons his Belgian sidekick is worth every penny of the £55million City paid for him.

Aguero – who has played alongside Lionel Messi for his country – admits he feels lucky to be in the same team as De Bruyne (right).

However, he has not been happy at being named on the bench for City’s last two games against Everton and Barcelona.

Aguero said: “Kevin is in the top 10, no doubt.

“He has proven to be one of the best players anywhere in the world.

“He’s got fantastic vision, packs quite a shot and he’s able to see STEVE MILLAR things others cannot. I’m lucky to be able to call him my team-mate. “Every match he plays, he proves he deserves to be ranked among the top players in the world.” Aguero has also been impressed with fellow striker Kelechi Iheanacho and has taken the Nigerian, 20, under his wing at The Etihad. He added: “Kelechi is a great player and an excellent kid. “He’s got the quality and potency required to be a great striker. “It’s not easy for someone his age to wear the colours of a team like City and always be at the top of his game. “But he’s progressing really well within the club and it’s a real pleasure to have Kelechi as a member of our side.”
