RESULT! Fired-up Lallana is now feeling at his very best

-

ADAM LALLANA is loving life looking down from the top of the Premier League and heading Group F with England in what is shaping up to be a season to remember.

Lallana was on target against Scotland in England’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying win on Friday.

But tell the Liverpool midfielder he looks like a new player and the easy-going star fixes a stare at the thought.

Lallana (below) said: “I don’t feel like a new player. Someone said to me last week, ‘You’re finally a Liverpool player’.

“I don’t agree with that at all. Last year we were playing well. We got to two finals at Liverpool.

“I just feel things fall into place and it’s nice to have got a good run of games for Liverpool and England.

“I’m not worried about my own form. It’s more about how we do as a team, domestically and internationally.

“We’re unbeaten in the group and on top with England and top of the league with Liverpool. The objective is to qualify for Russia and we’re well on the way to getting there.” Domestically, Lallana is thriving under the driving force that is Jurgen Klopp (below) at Anfield – and he is enjoying life in the more sedate atmosphere with England’s interim boss Gareth Southgate. But he feels things can still get better for himself, Liverpool and England. Lallana, 28, added: “I think I can improve a lot more. I feel like I’m improving every day at Liverpool, working hard under the boss and, hopefully, I can keep doing well and performing well for England. “When you have got confidence, it’s important you take advantage of it because it’s not something you can just switch on and off. “It’s something which comes gradually and I feel I’m at the top of my game at the minute, as everyone is at Liverpool. “And it’s nice to be able to bring that here on the international stage. “But we don’t just play for the manager. We play for the country and for our families and we play for each other. “It was a great occasion at Wembley against Scotland and we’re delighted to get the three points, which was the main job. Gareth’s not had long in the job so credit to him and how he has taken it on. “We’re listening to him. We’re listening to what he wants to do. “We don’t get too long together but we’re doing the best we can.” Scoring a headed goal against Scotland – and celebrating Kop team-mate Daniel Sturridge’s opener – was another bonus in England’s triumph over the old enemy. Lallana said: “My goal was quite rare and similar to Studge’s in a lot of ways. “There was a lot of pace on the cross and I just had to direct it. “It was nice to get a goal with my head – it is quite rare for me.”
