Wyke treble top in cruise control

The game did not start well for the Cumbrians when Pat Hoban headed in after six minutes but once Jason Kennedy equalised it was plain sailing.

Wyke (below) headed home in the 49th minute and the striker scored his second header after 62 minutes to make it 3-1. He completed his hat-trick from the spot with 10 minutes remaining and, after Mitchell Rose had pulled one back for the Stags, Reggie Lambe added a fifth.

Plymouth dropped to second after a 2-1 defeat at Morecambe. Argyle found themselves behind after 20 minutes when Gary Miller fouled Cole Stockton and Michael Rose rolled in the penalty.

Plymouth equalised just before the break when a Jake Jervis cross was misjudged by Shrimps keeper Barry Roche and Oscar Threlkeld buried his header at the far post.

But Pilgrims forward Jordan Slew was sent off for a second booking and Morecambe made them pay as Peter Murphy headed in from a corner in Walsall Southend. the 63rd minute. Doncaster closed in on the Greens after a 3-1 win against Leyton Orient.

Wycombe and Blackpool moved into the play-off places with wins against Hartlepool and Newport. Scott Kashket scored both goals for the Chairboys in a 2-0 win, while Brad Potts, Jack Payne, Kyle Vassell and Kelvin Mellor were on target for Blackpool in a 4-1 win. Stevenage made it four straight away victories with a 2-1 win at Portsmouth. Luke Berry scored twice as Cambridge claimed a 3-1 win against Cheltenham and Luke Gambin bagged a double for Barnet as they beat Notts County 3-2.

Jordan Roberts’ double helped Crawley to a 3-2 win against Grimsby. Colchester cruised to a 4-0 win against Crewe while a late Romy Boco equaliser snatched Accrington a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Yeovil. Exeter played out a 0-0 draw with Luton.
