LOOKALIKE IN DEMAND

-

DEL Boy lookalikes are having a lovely jubbly time this Christmas.

The legendary star of Only Fools and Horses is 2016’s most popular party booking.

Lookalike agency Susan Scott said the much-loved character was their most requested because he makes everyone giggle.

A spokesman said: “Del Boy is an iconic, fun, cheeky chappy character and everybody loves having him at their events.

“He acts as a great icebreaker and we all feel like we know him.

“It’s like having your long-lost famous uncle gatecrash your special occasion.

“Del Boy makes everybody laugh and that is definitely the magic of the character.”

Steve Rooney, 57, is on the books at the agency and has worked as a Derek Trotter impersonator for 17 years.

He said: “Christmas is a really busy time. It is mostly office parties and a few private ones at people’s houses too.

“Everybody has watched the show ISOBEL DICKINSON and knows the antics of Del Boy, Rodney and Uncle Albert. They put a smile on everyone’s face. “I have to mingle with the crowd and churn out all the classic Del Boy phrases, like ‘you plonker’ and ‘next year we’ll be millionaires’. “The beauty of Only Fools and Horses is that it’s stood the test of time. Even youngsters who didn’t grow up watching it know all about it. “It is also good oldfashioned humour, there’s no sex or violence like a lot of modern shows, yet it’s great viewing.” One of Britain’s bestloved sitcoms, Only Fools and Horses starred David Jason as Del Boy, with Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney, and the late Buster Merryfield as Uncle Albert. Steve, from Timperley near Manchester, says he has watched the TV show thousands of times in a bid to perfect his character. He added: “I watch them over and over again, even now I still spot new mannerisms to add into the routine.”
