RESULT! Beast’s late winner is sweet and Stour

-

WEST BROM: Former England man Bent fires home chance, it was nothing compared to the one missed immediately after half-time when Gareth McAuley headed over from inside the six-yard box.

And the horror miss came back to haunt the Baggies after 50 minutes. There seemed to be no danger when Bent picked up possession 20 yards out.

But the ex-Aston Villa striker could hardly have struck the ball better as his 20-yard piledriver left reserve stopper Boaz Myhill motionless.

Four minutes later, the rampant visitors were at it again as they edged ahead of shell-shocked Albion.

Ince, who had been relatively quiet, was sent tumbling by Brendan Galloway.

And the Rams star dusted himself down before cracking home a beautiful free-kick. It was his ninth goal this term.

Myhill should have done better to avoid leaving a gaping gap to his left. However, the way Ince found it was brilliant.

It was a backs-to-the-wall rearguard for Derby for the rest of the afternoon but they survived to secure DERBY: t hemselves victory.

Pulis slammed ref Jonathan Moss for his role in the winner.

The West Brom boss said: “The referee has marked out 13 paces for the free-kick – and that’s disappointing. You work out if that makes a difference.

“I didn’t see that result coming – even after they scored twice. We battered them all afternoon.

“We put 60 balls into the box and had 30 efforts. The stats show we deserved more. We needed something to drop our way.” t he ADEBAYO AKINFENWA’S late strike killed off minnows Stourbridge’s FA Cup hopes as Wycombe progressed with a 2-1 win.

The targetman, known as ‘The Beast’, nodded home the winner seven minutes from time to knock out the seventh-tier outfit, who were the lowest-ranked team still left in the competition.

Defender Dan Scarr thought he had put The Glassboys into the hat for the Fourth Round when he turned in a free-kick in the 70th minute before Akinfenwa decided matters at Adams Park.

Midfielder Sam Wood’s scrappy opener had given the League Two side the lead two minutes after the break.

It was also the end of the road for fellow non-league Barrow after Rochdale cruised to a 2-0 victory at a sell-out Holker Street.

In-form Ian Henderson was the difference between the sides as he scored once in each half to earn Keith Hill’s men a place in the fourth round for the third time in four seasons.

Henderson headed home from a Steven Davies corner in the 17th minute and finished off the job with his sixth goal in four games in the 62nd minute.

The Dale hitman was released by Ollie Rathbone and made no mistake to put the ball beyond keeper Jon Flatt.

Accrington Stanley shrugged off their League Two struggles to defeat divisional rivals Luton Town 2-1.

Sean McConville gave Stanley the lead in first-half injury time with a curling effort but Jake Gray fired the visitors level within 10 minutes of the interval.

They only achieved parity for three minutes before Omar Beckles struck the winning goal while Luton’s Glen Rea was dismissed in the last minute of the game for a second yellow card.

AFC Wimbledon could only grab a goalless draw with Sutton United on their return to Gander Green Lane.

The reformed club lost 4-0 to the U’s in their first-ever game at the ground back in 2002.

But nothing could separate the two sides will feature in Monday’s Fourth-Round draw.
