BIER WE GO!

-

JURGEN Klopp has promised his players a boozy night at a Munich bierkeller.

The Liverpool coach hopes it will put some oom-pah into their title challenge.

The jovial German plans to take them to his homeland if they finish in the top four of the Premier League.

If Liverpool, who take on Manchester United at Old Trafford today, achieve that, he reckons they will deserve a night supping steins of foaming beer served by waitresses in Bavarian costumes.

Stuttgart-born Klopp, 49, joined Liverpool in 2015 and has grown to love life in England.

But friends say he misses the delights of Germany’s many different beers.

The 6ft 4ins former defender and Ulla, his wife of 11 years, are both fans of bierkellers back home. But they were unaware many British towns and cities have their own versions.

An Anfield source said: “Jurgen has really settled down well here but like anyone living in a new country he misses certain homegrown institutions. He might come across as a cheery and eccentric Continental, but he’s razor sharp and enjoys the finest culture as well as the most fun pastimes.

“He loves the raucous singing and oom-pah bands at bierkellers. He believes away from a fullhouse at a match you just can’t beat the atmosphere.

“If the German treat comes off, God only knows what some of the quieter non-partying foreign players will make of it all.”

Klopp joined Liverpool from the German side Borussia Dortmund.

The red side of the city warmed to him instantly with his frantic touchline dashes that often cause his glasses to slide down his face.

And he brought the house down by declaring himself The Normal One – a cheeky pop at the Special One tag United chief Jose Mourinho, 53, bestowed on himself during his first spell as Chelsea coach.

“Jurgen is a bundle of energy and laughs and always seems to have a smile whenever you see him around the place,” added the insider.
