DEB’S BACK AND CHAOS THREATENS

-

STEVE and Michelle McDonald will struggle to cope with the tragic loss of their son.

The Rovers boss and his wife broke down when Ruairi died shortly after his premature birth.

And it soon becomes clear neither of them is coping well with their loss as viewers see the trauma taking its toll on their marriage.

Over lunch at the bistro, Michelle – played by Kym Marsh, who lost her own son Archie in 2009 – hits the bottle to drown her sorrows. And she doesn’t take well to Steve’s suggestion that she slows down. As her grief spirals out of control she begins a public meltdown which results in her storming out alone.

And as he deals with his own grief, and the guilt of knowing Leanne is carrying his unborn child, Steve (Simon Gregson) is at his wits’ end.

Can they find a way through their pain or will Michelle look elsewhere

DCain’s daughter has been living in France with her children for the past year in an attempt to get her life back on track.

But it looks like she’s not changed – and trouble has followed her home. And as she falls into the arms of her father, how long is it going to be before Cain has to step in to sort out her mess?

Emmerdale boss Iain MacLeod said: “She’s back and you’ll see her arriving into the show with a massive story chasing after her.

“She’s slap back in the middle of a Dingle caper. Just when you think you can’t catch your breath there’s a surprise twist at the end which is desperately sad, really heartbreaking and will trigger a massive new story for her for the next 12 to 18 months.”

An insider added: “Debbie Dingle will leave chaos in her wake.

“Having spent the last year in France, she is now on the run – but who is Debbie running from and how long will it be before Cain and Charity come to her rescue?”

Meanwhile, Charley Webb, who plays Debbie, has told how her emotions were running high when she returned to the Dales after giving birth to her second son, Bowie.

She said: “I did walk into my dressing room and burst into tears. Thankfully there was no one else in there.

“I think it’s because the day was finally there and I’d been anxious about leaving Bowie.

“I share a dressing room with Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona, and she made me the most amazing soup. She also bought me a love heart trinket with the word Bowie on it.” for comfort? Coronation Street boss Kate Oates hopes the storyline will get the nation talking about the issues surrounding miscarriage. She said: “We had fantastic research help, we watched documentaries, listened to podcasts, went on forums, read blogs and pulled all sorts of different experience through that.

“But when we put the storyline together, I took the unusual step of showing Kym, which I don’t think I’ve ever done before. “Kym was able to read it in storyline form, beat by beat, before the writers had had it; just to make sure that again, there were no surprises, that this was what she wanted, and she’ll have recognised bits of herself in there…

“What was important was that the viewers at home think ‘That’s how I feel’, see something of themselves in there or think, ‘that’s what’s happening in my head, or my heart’.”
