FAN’S DRAMATIC DIET AFTER POP ‘I Busted a gut to shed 5st
GEORGETTE CULLEY A BUSTED fan lost five stone after posing for a “hideous” snap with her idol Charlie Simpson.
Rebecca Wiltshire, 28, was thrilled to have her picture taken with the singer.
But when she saw the snap she was horrified at how big she looked.
It proved the spur Rebecca needed to get in shape.
At her heaviest, the 5ft 1in pharmacy dispenser weighed 15 stone and was a size 20.
She is now down to a size 10 and says she is a “new person”.
Rebecca said: “I’d been in love with Charlie for years and couldn’t believe it when I finally got to meet him.
“It should have been a picture I’d cherish for the rest of my life, but instead I just felt ashamed and could barely look at it.
“Although I was devastated at the time, it was the kick I needed and now I couldn’t be happier.”
Rebecca, from Stanstead Abbotts, Herts, says her eating habits were out of control for years.
She said: “I loved junk food and would gorge on a salty, starchy diet of burgers, chips and donuts.
“My confidence was so low, sometimes I’d struggle to leave the house.”
All that changed when she got to meet Charlie.
Rebecca said: “He asked how I was and thanked me for coming. And then he asked for my name which he signed on a set list for the tour.
“I should have felt over the moon with the picture.
“But instead I just felt sad and embarrassed. I could barely look at it without bursting into tears.”
She joined Slimming World, swapped ready meals for home cooking and took up Zumba.
Rebecca said: “I’d exhausted plenty of diets before, but none of them worked as I always felt hungry or deprived.”
After getting in shape she also found love with Adam Tant, 29, a mechanic who was in her year at school.
She told us: “Adam didn’t even recognise me when he first started chatting me up in my local Wetherspoons. It was hilarious when he realised who I was.”
Rebecca is so happy with her results she is now quitting her pharmacy job to become a Slimming World consultant.
