Lewis Page was sent off just 11 minutes into the contest before Zach Clough put Wanderers ahead two minutes later.

However, goals from Patrick Bauer and Nathan Byrne grabbed the win for the Addicks.

David Ball’s last-minute equaliser saw Fleetwood move level with the Trotters after a 1-1 draw with Southend. Anthony Wordsworth had given the Shrimpers a first-half lead.

Rory McArdle hit the winner as Bradford kept the pressure on the top four with a 2-1 win over struggling Oldham. Brian Wilson had earlier JOHN MARQUIS scored twice as Doncaster stretched their advantage at the top of League Two to seven points with a 3-0 win at Yeovil.

James Coppinger had already hit a post when Mathieu Baudry fired Rovers ahead from six yards after 31 minutes and Marquis slotted home when through one-on-one to double the visitors’ lead four minutes later.

A fine solo goal from Marquis (below) his 17th of the season, made it three to seal an impressive win.

Third-placed Carlisle were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Barnet.

Charlie Wyke put Carlisle ahead against the run of play in the 29th minute, turning the ball home after Jason Kennedy had seen a shot saved.

Bees striker Simeon Akinola was sent off for a late challenge on Michael Raynes after 66 minutes but the 10 men levelled when John Akinde scored from the penalty spot with 13 minutes remaining.

Goals from Isaac Vasell and Jordan Cook helped Luton move up to fourth with a 2-0 win against Cambridge.

David Wheeler scored for the fifth consecutive game to ensure Portsmouth slipped to fifth following a

Harry Barnes opened the scoring after 59 minutes and Kieran Agard doubled that lead before Aneke’s double.

Keshi Anderson hit a hat-trick to lead Northampton to a 3-0 win over rock-bottom Coventry, while Gillingham and Shrewsbury drew 1-1 after Shrews’ Alex Rodman rescued a point. 1-0 defeat at home to in-form Exeter, who moved into the play-off places.

Mansfield continued their fine form with a 2-0 victory against struggling Leyton Orient.

Ben Whiteman broke the deadlock early in the second half, firing home a half-volley from 22 yards and Danny Rose squeezed in a second from a tight angle to seal the success after 56 minutes. Bottom club Newport eased to only their second home win of the season with a 3-1 victory against Hartlepool. Crewe and Cheltenham was goalless while goals from Steven Schumacher and Jobi McAnuff fired Stevenage past Grimsby in a 2-0 win.

Notts County saw off Crawley 2-1 after Curtis Thompson’s red card sparked a goal frenzy in the last 18 minutes.

Thierry Audel gave County an unlikely lead in the 78th minute before James Collins thought he had given the Red Devils a point on their travels.

But Jonathan Forte was on hand to grab a last-gasp winner.

First-half goals from Cameron Jerome and Timm Klose helped the Canaries claim their fifth home win in six league games.

Birmingham had possession for long periods and good chances, especially in the first half, but they are now without a win in nine games under new boss Gianfranco Zola.

Norwich boss Alex Neil said: “For some time I have had the feeling we are now moving forward after a difficult spell.

“The players are performing better. I have been happier with what I have been seeing and this was a continuation of that.

“It was a good steady performance. We did the ugly side of the game well and when we do that we have the quality to cause problems at the other end.”

There were opportunities at both ends in a bright opening, with Lukas Jutkiewicz testing John Ruddy with a shot and Jerome firing straight at Tomasz Kuszczak from a better position.

The Blues were then unlucky when Jutkiewicz’s header from a left-wing cross came back off the bar – and 40 seconds later they found themselves behind.

A swift counter-attack saw Jerome burst through down the inside left channel and into the box before sliding the ball past the exposed away keeper.

Norwich had another let-off midway through the opening period when Craig Gardner sent a free header over the top.

But the Canaries should have made it 2-0 when Steven Naismith latched on to Wes Hoolahan’s cutback, only to miss the target from six yards.

Kuszczak then made a smart close-range stop to deny Jonny Howson but the hosts only had to wait a couple of minutes for their s e c o n d wh e n poor defending from a Robbie Brady free-kick allowed Klose a free header at the near post.

Blues started the second half well but their neat approach tended to fizzle out and a wayward effort from Gardner was the best they could muster. Norwich might have stretched their lead on the hour when it took a smart save from Kuszczak to deny Jacob Murphy. Naismith was guilty of another terrible miss when he headed a Brady cross straight at Kuszczak when completely clear but it did not matter as the hosts saw out the game, with Jerome missing a sitter on the breakaway. Blues boss Zola said: “The players are doing what I say. Sometimes t hey make mistakes but then I also make mistakes – everyone makes mistakes. “I am confident they can come out of this difficult moment. I am 100 per cent sure about that.”
