ODOI EYEING UP A DOUBLE
FULHAM full-back Denis Odoi is short-sighted but has a long-term vision.
And that is hoping history repeats itself and he can collect another cup winner’s medal.
Odoi, 28 (below) arrived in England in the summer after a successful career at Anderlecht and Lokeren – where he picked up a Belgian Cup medal.
That gave Lokeren a route into the Europa League where their first opponents were Hull, today’s FA Cup Fourth Round opponents.
Odoi said: “We won that game and it gave me my first taste of English football. I wanted more.
“It was a great experience playing a Premier League side and I hope history can repeat itself for me by beating them again.”
The defender – capped once by Belgium – made his Fulham debut in their opening match of the season against Newcastle and became an instant cult hero when he controlled his first touch PAUL HETHERINGTON TONY STENSON with his back, spun opponent Paul Dummett and set up a move that helped them start the season in style.
And Odoi will be the first to raise his hand if Fulham get a penalty.
They have missed seven from nine this season and he said: “I wouldn’t mind having a go.
“I scored one in the Belgian FA Cup and I’d be willing to have a go.” Thursday’s win over Man United will see Hull arrive at Craven Cottage with confidence and Odoi added: “That has given them a lift. We need to be sharp and believe in ourselves. I would love another cup run.
“My Belgium medal means a lot. It’s locked away in a box at home somewhere.
The English FA Cup is very special to me too. It was always shown on Belgian TV.”
