It’s axe factor for Ast

-

FORMER JLS star Aston Merrygold has been dropped by his UK record label.

Warner Bros Records axed Aston after he failed to land a hit single in Britain.

But he still has his deal with Warner International, thanks to his overseas chart successes.

My source said: “Warner had huge hopes for Aston but unfortunately things haven’t worked out.

“Everyone was happy with the quality of music but unfortunately that hasn’t resulted in record sales.” Aston became one of the UK’s biggest pop stars after finding fame with JLS on The X Factor.

The group went on to score five No.1 singles and four top three albums after coming second to Alexandra Burke in 2008.

They also won two BRITs and five MOBO Awards.

But despite releasing some great tracks as a solo artist Aston has struggled to achieve anywhere near the same level of success.

His first album Showstopper, which was originally due for release in late 2015, still hasn’t seen the light of day. But Aston’s pop career is by no means over. He’s working on new music out in Los Angeles and plans to release it independently with Warner. SPARE a thought for hunky Croatian classical duo 2Cellos. The pair, who were discovered by Sir Elton John, were in talks to perform at both Mariah Carey and Kylie Minogue’s weddings…until they were both called off. Awkward! The boys will be hoping for better luck when their third album Score comes out on March 17 via Sony Masterworks.
