SAILORS SUNK BY PORN BAN Navy outlawing smut on ships
Boarding Beckham is looking snow cool
DAVID Beckham showed he’s a natural board thriller after hitting the slopes with his family.
Becks, 41, said it was his first time trying the sport after hinting he had not been allowed to snowboard during his footballing career.
But it wasn’t long before he took a tumble and landed on his bum. He was with wife Victoria and their four children at a luxury resort in Whistler, Canada.
He posted several snaps on Instagram and told his millions of followers: “Day 4 and I must say I’m slowly getting it. One of the things BRITISH sailors have been banned from viewing porn and reading mucky mags.
X-rated films and photos have been outlawed on Royal Navy warships, subs and at shore bases.
It follows a review by top brass into the availability of “sexually explicit magazines and pornographic films” on board vessels.
Under the new rules any sailor caught with sexual material which has not been certified by the British Board of Film Censors will face military charges.
The ban includes content downloaded from the internet and stored on personal devices.
Naked or semi-naked photos – even if they are of a wife or partner – are also banned in dorms and communal areas. JOHN WARD I’ve always wanted to do and finally I’m allowed…living the dream.” Victoria and daughter Harper, five, took to the slopes in matching white ski gear. Eldest son Brooklyn, 17, was forced to give the outing a miss after breaking his collarbone on the trip. The holiday comes two weeks after Becks was involved in a hacking scandal. In leaked emails he raged about not being given a knighthood for his charity work. The clampdown will be enforced by the Master at Arms – the naval policeman aboard warships – and senior officers, who regularly inspect their sailors’ accommodation.
Officials say the new regulations were introduced some time ago, but it is only now that they are being implemented.
But sources claim porn is part of the naval culture among crews on ships and submarines.
While it is frowned upon by top brass, senior officers are said to often ignore the issue, with no one yet being charged for displaying images or watching pornography.
In 2006 Royal Navy chaplin Rev Mark Sharpe quit the fleet after he claimed he had been ordered to turn a blind eye to porn being shown in mess decks on the assault ship HMS Albion and destroyer HMS Manchester.
He brought a claim of sexual harassment and discrimination against the Navy on the grounds of religious affiliation.
And he told an employment tribunal that he had been horrified by the amount of pornography being shown aboard ships.
A naval source said: “Pornography in the fleet remains a widespread problem, as it is in society.
“We just need to move with the times and make sure those people who do not want to see it are not offended.”
In 2013 the US Navy banned pin-ups and pornography from public sight on its warships.
