Yaya: Changing of Guardi will bring trophies

-

PEP GUARDIOLA is starting to bring his golden touch to Man City says Yaya Toure.

The ex-Ivory Coast midfielder has been swept up in a wave of emotion after the tide turned against Monaco two weeks ago.

And now, as the City boss heads for the south of France on Wednesday with a 5-3 lead in the bank, Yaya reckons Guardiola is bringing the Bayern Munich and Barcelona mentality to the Etihad.

That philosophy saw him win a hat-trick of German and Spanish league titles as well as the Champions League.

Toure (below) who lifted the Champions League with Barca in 2009, said: “If you ask the fans, they believe.

“You can see their reaction after the first Monaco game. I think that now something starts to happen here.

“Something happens at this club.

“Yeah, I feel that. It is starting to feel like something big is happening here. The fans feel it, even you guys can feel it as well. It is the winning mentality because now we are playing well.”

And Toure, 33, says it would be Guardiola’s greatest achievement to take the trophy at City.

He said: “Yeah. I think it is his biggest test. This team is young and he comes and brings in young players.

“It is very demanding for him and very hard but this guy likes challenges. It is STEVE MILLAR good. Do I want to win it? That is an issue because of teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“But if we play like we did against Monaco, then we come close to them. It is the winning mentality. Killer goals are going to be very important.

“My mentality is always like that. I always try to lift a trophy at the end of the season. It’s one of the most beautiful things that can happen.

“I have been at this club for a long time. I know what it means to lift a trophy. My time here has been great and the support from the fans has been incredible.”
