CILLA Black would have been “very happy” her close friend Paul O’Grady is to host Blind Date, her son has said.
The popular show will return to TV screens for the first time in more than 13 years on Channel 5.
Cilla, who died in 2015, fronted the series from 1985 to 2003. Son Robert Willis said: “Mum would have been very happy. If there was anyone she’d have wanted to do it, it would be him.
“He’ll make it his own. Blind Date was always about the funny moments. He’s not one of those guys with someone on an earpiece telling him what to say. He thinks for himself, like mum. “With Paul at the helm, there’ll be a lot of laughter.”
O’Grady said he was honoured to present the new series which Channel 5 has said will deliver some new twists.
The transmission date has yet to be confirmed. JORGIE Porter has put her acting career on hold while she enjoys some time off in the sunshine.
The TV favourite, 29, has been taking a break in Dubai. While staying at the plush Le Royal Meridien hotel she made a splash on the beach – and looked hotter than ever. Jorgie now lives in LA after moving there last year. Critics tipped her to make it big on American TV, but she’s said she wants a break from acting.
Jorgie put in long hours for eight years on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks. She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I didn’t go to LA to get acting roles. I haven’t even done any auditions yet.
“I always knew I’d be coming back to film Celebs Go Dating in the UK, so I ED GLEAVE TV Editor wasn’t booking in any acting stuff. And it’s not the season anyway. I’ve been doing classes, but that’s all for now.” Jorgie says her favourite thing about Los Angeles is the sunny weather. She said: “You can wear anything you want. And we’ve even got English telly.”
Jorgie was hunting for a man on E4 show Celebs Go Dating earlier this month. Viewers saw her going on a string of flop dates. Now she is hoping to land a Hollywood hunk. Jorgie said: “I couldn’t say no to Channing Tatum – I love Magic Mike. He could Magic Mike me anytime!”
