Tourists flee hotel gun terror
HUNDREDS of tourists fled in terror yesterday as a gunman wearing a pig mask tried to sledgehammer his way into one of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas.
The robber pointed his handgun at guests and fired several shots in the air during the attempted heist at the 4,000-room Bellagio Hotel just after midnight.
One guest, a 21-year-old Californian woman who identified herself only as Kira, said she saw the raider standing outside a Rolex store containing watches worth millions of dollars.
She said he seemed to be “keeping guard” with a sledgehammer in one hand and a gun in the other.
“He was screaming at people, pointing his gun, making sure that anyone who was close just got away,” added Kira.
She saw the man being led away by police who later confirmed he may have had two or more accomplices who are thought to have escaped empty-handed.
Although one witness said people appeared to have fallen in the rush to flee the casino, a spokesman for the Bellagio – one of the most popular destinations for UK tourists – said no injuries had been reported.
