CAR MOBILE BAN FLOUTED

A FIFTH of motorists are still using mobile phones while driving despite a crackdown.

A study out today found more than three million social media messages are sent from behind the wheel of cars on British roads every week.

Some people even watch video in the driver’s seat, with 9% of offenders streaming at least two and a half hours per week.

And half of motorists who admit to being on their phone while in control of a car are texting, research by insurance company MORE TH>N found.

New laws came in earlier this month doubling maximum fines to £200 and penalty points to six for anyone caught using a phone behind the wheel.
