CHARITIES TO LOSE £200M
CHARITIES which are “the lifeblood of society” are set to lose £200million in European Union funding after Brexit, a parliamentary body has warned.
The House of Lords Committee on Charities said small charities could be the worst hit.
It said public bodies must help out with grants and appropriate contracts for services.
Charities receive EU money from various funds, especially the European Social Fund.
Civil society minister Rob Wilson said that if charities can show “strong value for money” they will continue to be funded.
Committee chairman Baroness Pitkeathley said: “Charities are the lifeblood of society. They must be supported.”
