An Oasis of peace
FORMER terrorist Martin McGuinness used Oasis songs to inspire his fight to end the Troubles.
The ex-IRA leader turned politician was “obsessed” with the band’s lyrics.
And he revealed they “held a special meaning” for him when he met the Gallaghers on flights to Belfast. A source said: “As well as being the soundtrack of Britpop, Oasis’ tracks were also the soundtrack of the peace process in Northern Ireland.
“The title Wonderwall reminded Martin of peace lines in Belfast that divided Protestants and Catholics.
“And Don’t Look Back In Anger obviously had a heavy resonance in his life, given his transformation from terrorist to peacemaker.”
McGuinness died last week aged 66.
