Larsson comes Clean

-

ZARA Larsson is more nervous about new Clean Bandit single Symphony flopping than her international debut album So Good. Clean Bandit’s last song Rockabye, featuring AnneMarie, topped the charts in 20 countries, spending nine weeks at No.1 in the UK. And the Lush Life singer, who features on the band’s latest track, told me: “I really, really, hope Symphony does well. It’s nerve-wracking being the next single after Rockabye.

“I feel more pressure releasing this Clean Bandit song than I do my own album. All of their songs do well so no-one wants to be the one that flops.” FOUR-Time BRIT Award winner Emeli Sandé is currently easing herself into a summer headline spot at V Festival and a big arena tour by playing a series of smaller theatre dates including Tuesday’s Brixton Academy.

Her long-awaited second album Long Live The Angels hasn’t quite hit the heights of multi-million selling debut Our Version Of Events and it was her older material, like Clown and encore Read All About It, that really got the 5,000 capacity audience excited.

While a revamped version of huge hit Next To Me fell short, a simply stunning version of duet Beneath Your Beautiful with her band member Mike Davies was even better than the original featuring Labrinth. Her less commercial new music held its own. And while she may have left her fans waiting arguably a little too long in between records and a subsequent tour, her flawless vocal performance meant Emeli cemented her place as one of the UK’s true talents.
