Harrison Ford called himself a “schmuck” and said he was “distracted” when he landed his plane on an airport taxiway, a recording has revealed.

The Indiana Jones and Star Wars legend narrowly avoided a jet carrying 116 people at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, in February. “I’m the schmuck that landed on the taxiway,” Ford, 74, told an air traffic controller. “I was distracted by the airline which was in movement and also the big turbulence by the landing Airbus.”

The air traffic controller said it was “no big deal”. Ford replied: “It’s a big deal for me.”
